| Among the many benefits i've experienced among my planted aquariums: fast growers, such as Java moss or elodea, absorb and use CO2, ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites. They also provide safety for smaller fish, and their offspring. Just the other day I found 4 cherry barb fry in my 30 gallon planted tank. One of them was already a cm long. I had noticed fry earlier but was unable to catch them since they were so tiny. I figured that I would leave their survival up to Mother Nature and not interfeer. I think the reason why so many survived was because of my densely planted tank with a dense carpet of Java moss and a backdrop of elodea. Hope this helps convert you to live plants. |
