| I was one of many who bought some 183,s when the first batch came in and never had a problem. I even sent windy back to wigan to buy some more . Mine went on to breed in RO/HMA TDS of 100 and PH as low as 5.8. The water was thick with tannins. They come from blackwaters so felt right at home. They arent easy to breed IMO Cheers thegeeman |

| The first pair I had were from Pier and wild caught. I really struggled to get them to spawn and IMO are better suited to a their own tank if your thinking about breeding them. I had them in a 2ft tank with one cave lots of bogwood. The bogwood gave it that blackwater look which I believe is where they come from. I also added blackwater extract over a period of few weeks, This almost resulted in a ph crash as I am also using RO/HMA as well. I decided to do a 50% water change to get the ph back up abit and the cool water change seemed to trigger them off. The fry were easy to raise. I have just spawned my second pair and I did nothing to these at all in the way of triggering them so who really knows :|
Good luck with them
Cheers

| What size were yours when they bred? And what ratio of males did you have to females?
Thanks Sean |

| The first pair were 4"TL and the new pair a little smaller. I only keep pairs as it seems that when they become conditioned to spawn they also become aggressive, more so the females.
Do you have some Sean?
Cheers

| Hi Gee,
That's great thanks. Yes, i got a male and 3 females from Pier a few weeks ago. They're in a 180l with just a few cories and plenty of bogwood and decent hiding places. Would you suggest taking 2 of the females out then?
Thanks Sean |

Thats a good question, I would keep a sharp eye on them and at the first sign of fighting I would remove 2 females
Goodluck

| Well, i'll keep a close eye on them. I may have to take them out at the end of May, as i'll be on my honeymoon for a couple of weeks. Then there's no chance of any scrapping while i'm away.
Cheers Sean |
