PostSubject: Whitespot/Ich Treatment!!!   Fri Dec 26, 2008 6:23 am

Ive just got rid of a major case of ich in my tank totally affecting all my BN's....
The first thing to do is increase you tank temp to 30 degrees Celcius and increase your O2 levels....
If there are no sign's of improvment then i would recommend using a med called ESHA EXIT which can be hard to find but ebay prooved usefull for me as did esha exit a 3day course will get you well on your way to defeating these unwanted parasite's... Very Happy

PostSubject: How I recently treated Ich in my baby pleco tank   Thu Mar 08, 2012 10:56 am

When salting and raising temps didn't work for me , I figured it was time for some meds. I didn't know what was safe for plecos and especially baby plecs and I ending up trying Tetras "All-in-one Treatment " (says it's Halo Shield Powered, whatever that means) 1 tablet treats 5 gallons. Treatment must be repeated daily for 6 days. I treated at full strength every evening. In addition to the daily dose I also redosed and salted again in the mornings with my daily 5 gallon water change (per 5 gallon dosage). My babies were just over an inch long and were totally covered with Ich and not eating and exibited high respiration rates. After I lost 3, that also boated, I figured I would lose them all.
By the 6th day and final day of treatment, I was shocked to see a reduction in the cysts and it has been 2 weeks now and all the rest are perfectly healthy. Did have a few more that were bloated but as soon as their appetites came back and they started eating their veggies, they also recovered from the bloat. From the very beginning, I should note, I was also infusing their veggies with Kent Xtreme Garlic. I'm not familiar with many of the meds mentioned in the other posts so I thought I would share what worked for me. I'm guessing Tetra products are available everywhere. For anyone who is interested the active ingredient is listed as 1-chloro-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-4-imidazolidinone and it is a broad spectrum, non antiobiotic treatment. States on the package that it is not recommended for scaleless fish but , it sure worked wonders in my case.
Sorry this post is so long but I hope the info proves helpful to someone in the event that salting and elevated temps don't seem to be enough.
