PostSubject: powder pH buffer    Thu Jan 05, 2012 10:44 am

Hi there,

I am - actually a dear friend of mine - looking for a pH buffer.
What I know is that made in USA, the name is pH FIX.
That is in powder form and ranges are pH 4, pH 5 and pH 6.

Any idea what might be the source?

Best regards,
Mary

dont know, never heard of it but my advice to your friend would be dont touch pH adjusting chemicals!!

If you want pH to go up add in things that will buffer the pH higher such as coral sand etc.

If you want it lower then filter the water and remove things. trying to drop the pH by adding stuff is always going to lead to issues.

I forgot to mention that the intention is to use the solution to calibrate the pH metre.
For some reason the calibration solutions available over here are not good enough.

His 40+ years experience says that particular pH FIX was the best for the purpose.
However, the label, so as the jar is long gone.
