PostSubject: Growing zucchini   Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:44 am

Hi guys, a couple of months ago I planted some zucchini seeds for my bns so I don't need to buy zucchinis every week. I just checked one of the plants today and there's a massive zucchini growing off of it (It's almost longer than my forearm).
I'm going to blanch it because it'll probably rot before any of the bns finish it.
It's probably no longer very tasty when they get too big

In hindsight maybe this should've gone into the feeding time section.

Interestingly enough it disappears a lot faster than the supermarket bought zucchinis also the skin turns a yellowish colour when underwater for 5 hours whilst the supermarket ones always stay completely green.

That's because the ones at the supermarket are pumped full of chemicals lol!

the pepps seem to like the non chemical pumped ones better. I can actually catch them eating it whereas I never see them eating the supermarket ones.

Anyone who grows their own veg will tell you that it is better than what you can buy at the supermarket. Even BN's can tell the difference lol!

agreed!

I can even tell the difference when i put in a supermarket cucumber compared to a markets cucumber...the market one just goes!!

I just got the all clear to put in a few veges from the landlord!...good times ahead!

I have too many zucchinis now. My catfish still haven't finished the first one and I've got 4 other giant ones that I just cut off.

I'm giving them to my grandmas boyfriend because he likes stuffing them and eating them!
