| Hi im new too bristlenose i purchased some longfins of a family friend about 3 weeks ago and i was quite suprised in how beautiful these fish actually were so i decided ide go and get myself some more and i did today i bought 2 albinos one is shortfin one is longfin they are only little they cost me $10 australian dollars each and i bought two bigger common shortfin bristlenose which i told him i wanted a male and female im just not certain if my male is male i think it is i know my female is female because she has absolutely no bristles at all yet he/she what ever it is has some but i dont think they are to a large extend i got some photos the best i could but u can really see the top of him but these them |

| Looking at the thickness and length of the bristles I would say male. As Bristlenoses has said a pic from above should confirm it.

| Hi and welcome to the forum. I'd go with male. By the looks of it he hasn't fully developed his bristles yet so give it time and he will. How old are they? |

| male.....female commons don't usually grow gill bristles that early on...well not in my experiences,
