| Found him dead yesterday morning. Does it look like bloat? seamed ok the night before, in his breeding cave, showing off,but did find a near empty snail shell just outside the cave. It was not his usual cave. Could he have choked on the snail? Does anyone know where I can get another lemon male? or breeding pair. |

| Sorry to hear of your loss Although the stomach looks bloated it could have happened after it died. Did you notice any white stringy poo, another symptom of bloat, before it died. What has been the Lemons diet since you got them Have you checked your female to see if she is bloated You stated she looked gravid but the early stages of bloat can look very similar. If you can post a photo of her stomach it will help members to confirm whether she is gravid or bloated. Bn's have been known to eat snails but I can not see that being the cause. |

| Hi,
Am terribly sorry that you have lost on of your BNs.
Hope that Doug will take a look at the photo, cause it looks pretty green belly illness to me.
Wonder what others have to say about this.
Wish you all the very best from now on, Mary |

| it looks like the poor fella has been dead awhile. at least a few days given the look of his skin and belly. the redness does suggest that it might have been bloat but its a bit hard to tell now unfortunatly. and as mentioned te swelling may have happened post mortum.
whenever i get a fish die like this i always dose the tank with an antibacterial and give everyone a good feed of peas to make sure they are nice and cleaned out. _________________ Doug's Bristlenose eBook - The number one source of Bristlenose information and the most detailed breeding guide avaliable 3rd edition OUT NOW!!! | Doug,
You wrote that after one dies you give the survivors peas. Does pea make them poop more and clean their guts? What is the "function" of peas?
Best regards, Mary |
