PostSubject: 3ft Shrimp tank   Sun Sep 18, 2011 11:09 am

Been up n running for a while but finally got off my slack bum n took some pics Smile

Full tank shot

CRS

Endler (i named him Little Red for obvious reasons lol) hes the only recognizable endler pic i could get, little devils are so quick)

The tank is home to about 30 adult endlers and a number of fry, 30 CRS, about 25-30 Cherry Shrimp, 15 Darwin Red Nose Shrimp (usually they are out n about but only spotted one berried female before she ducked into cover) and a number of trumpet snails (evil little things hitchhiked on a piece of wood at one stage)
The shrimp like to live in the back behind the wood where the moss is Smile but they do come out to the front to forage on the decaying IAL.
I tried to make the tank more of a decaying leave riverbed type of tank rather than the normal moss shrimp tanks around. Its not some peoples cup of tea but i just love the tannin colored water.
When i can be bothered im moving my marble longfin bn into this tank Smile

Love all the wood! Beautiful tank. Gotta feel the love for those trumpet snails. They'll keep that sand loose and clean Smile

looking good mate!

Gotta say i'm with you on the trumpet snails. I have them in my big tank and I hate them. I try and keep them at bay by removing every one i see. if they get out of control they increase the bioload of the tank hugely! uncool!

I like thr CRS too!

I've noticed an overabundance of snails indicate a tank being overfed. When I keep the water changes up and watch my feeding regimen I don't have snail population explosions.

I am jealous of your tank setups Karl, lol. They look so damn good.

I agree with you on the tannin look, I love it too. There's something to be said for natural brown water. The light plays well with enhancing the browns and greens because of it. Smile
