Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of setting up a new tank to breed some bns. I was curious to know as to what people can or have kept in the same tank that wouldn't eat/pick on wrigglers/bn fry.
Other than plecos of course and hillstream loaches. And would glass catfish be ok?
It's nice to have something, however small, to fill the space from middle-top of the tank.

What are people's opinions? Make a list of what you know or have tried.

Livebearers are a good idea. I keep endlers in my tanks

I've also kept Endlers with mine and also Limia melanogaster (Black-bellied Limia) the were no problems with either

cherry shrimp.

I have CS in all my tanks and they are a nice little second earner and the dont add to the bio load of the tank.

this is something i strongly suggest you consider when adding to a breeding tank. a breeding tank is just that, a tank for breeding. Adding other things to it to try and make it more interesting will detract from its original purpose, making breeding less likely or making catching fish/fry harder.

I like cherry shrimp because the dont get in the way. the breed so prolifically that i dont care that i catch 30 when fishing out 10 fry. i give them as a gift to the buyer and they are satisfied! win!

I agree with Doug on this try to make sure if its a breeding tank, its used for that. thou some fish like my GBR's feel more comfort with other fish in the tank and if left alone they don't breed. i added a few guppy's and 3 days later they layed eggs. Now every 3 weeks they lay eggs like clock work And the guppy's give them some extra protein when they drop baby's I don't think Bn pleco's would care if you had others in the tank or not..
I myself never leave the babies with the dad after they hatch as he seems to want them to stay in to long and I worry about him not eating and the babys eating off his slime coat to long. So I empty the cave into a bowl and pop's gets mad but he soon goes about his normal activities.
