| Hi everyone. Today I found my younger albino longfin laying sideways in an artificial plant. Not sure if he swam into it and got stuck, but if he did I'm guessing he must've gotten a bit stressed and caused himself to swell up. He was fine last night when I fed my fish. When I noticed him in that position, I opened the plant a bit and he scooted out. That's when I noticed his condition. Now I am pretty sure he is a male, given the small bristles around his nose, but, there's none going up the middle of the nose, and I have seen females before, though rarely, have small bristles around their nose. Can this be confirmed as bloat? He also has a bit of redness on the back of his head as well which I noticed after I contained him. Or is this possibly a female who's egg-heavy? |

| I agree with kfenk, it looks to be still at the stage when the blanched deshelled peas will solve the problem.

| Update on the bn. Had him isolated in a fry net currently holding some baby mollies in it (didn't have a separate tank to stick him in as my current quarantine tank is being treated with other nasties). So he was basically fed crumbed/crushed pellets that the babies ate and I stuck the occasional algae wafer in there as well. Haven't been able to do shopping to get the peas, so I wasn't able to feed him that. It appears his stomach has returned to normal size now, and he's a lot more active, even demonstrated to the other bns who came close that the net he is in is his area of space. I just wanted to say, thankyou for your advice everyone. Much appreciated. |
