I think every fish keeper should go with discus at least once. Just to see if you like them or not. I personally love them. I always wanted them and now i have them i love them. On the other hand i know people who always wanted them and when they got them decided they were not their cup of tea but they were glad they tried them.
For me, at the moment with running my own business, PhD studies and breeding bristlenose I am finding my discus tank a little tought at the moment, not so much the fish or water as the tank is very well filtered and gets frequent water changes, its the plants that are doing my head in at the moment. No ferts, no CO2 no nothing, just light for 9hrs a day and they damn things are litterally growing out of the tank!!
Once my times frees up again I am looking forward to getting it back into check, but it looks like a frickin jungle in ther at the moment!
