What fish can I keep with peppermints that won't interfear with breeding or eat their babies.
Is ok to keep angels or discus. What does everyone else keep?

nope and nope. they will both eat the babies. you will have to sort out fry savers etc if you want to keep them together. it can be done but there is a lot more work involved with the breeding and protection of the fry.

With my colony of Peps i keep a guppy and a mollie. So really anything thats small and not too nosey as to disturb breeding. If your going for looks i suggest tetras like the cardinals or even guppies just to add some colour and movement. Its good to have dither fish (active fish that swim around alot) as this make the plecos feel safer (small active fish = no predator fish)

That's what I thought tetras only. I'm planning on buying a house in next year so I'm going to set up a fish room I really want to breed jaguar cichlids and some rarer ones plus catfish. But at the mo I'll have to settle for 1 tank.

Endlers are also a good fish to keep with BN's, there is also the theory that livebearers have a positive effect on BN breeding.

As Doug has pointed out cichlids will eat BN fry, plus if the cichlids start breeding BN's can take quite a hammering, fins mostly, if they go in their territory.

Good luck with the Jaguars, they are stunning fish when adult.

Although I am far from breeding anyone at this point, I have a small school of 9 harlequin raspboras and some rainbows too. None seem to bother my L#'s ,yet they are active ,but not frantic like danio. They are calm for the tank. Just my 2 cents, not sure if they aid or hinder breeding.

I might start with 12 black neons or cardinal tetras. I'll pick some up on the weekend. Thanx for everyone's input.

Harlequins are always good to put in with any breeding fish, they are commonly recommended as company when breeding Kribs as they are good "Dither Fish". They let the breeding fish (parents) know its safe yet can also get out of the way when being chased by/from the sometimes over protective parents...!! As such would be good tank mates for breeding Bn's..

Been reading your post and some thoughts crossed my mind regarding water changes, wouldn't changing water upset the Harlequins with cooler water being added to help with breeding the BN'S and could this lead to the fish other than BN in contacting the dredded white spot....just a thought.
