Hi all.
I'm quite sure that my albino commons have bloat. Won't eat, lethargic, bloated etc...
Please confirm my fears. :cry:
Also, should I euthanase them, and if so, how?

I've read up on bloat in all the threads, and tried everything - except medications but it seems they are pretty ineffective. I've had peas in there for days, and even garlic-infused the peas.
The fish won't eat anymore, so I think it's all over...

Another question: If they die, should the tank and contents be treated before stocking it again?

I dont think you will get a good out come...

Outlook not so good I'm sad to say. You don't really need to give the tank a real overhaul, just a good gravel vac should do. And before you get any more bn you should check what you've been feeding them. Try and steer clear of the foods more rich in protein. Just stick to algae discs and veg

I haven't had these two for long, and I think that poor water conditions may have caused the bloat. The guy I got them off didn't look after them very well while dismantling his tank. Had them in a bucket for too long with no filter. They ate for me after I first got them, but then got sick a few days / a week later. That was about 2 weeks ago.
Shame really, because they are nice fish, and were breeders. I hate when my fish die - not that it happens too often!

UPDATE:
This morning the piece of Zucchini had been eaten out that I put in last night, so I figured maybe one of them is doing okay.
I separated them into different tanks to find out who did the eating.

Is there any medication or method I should try? I have peas and zucchini in the tanks that I keep changing to keep them fresh.
What would you guys do?

I would keep them together & just have veg available for them...They may just come good yet...

Hey everyone.
Well, it's been about 3 weeks since the fish got crook, and there's been a pleasant development.
I was treating with Myxazin in the hope of them coming good, and this morning I noticed

The male fanning eggs!

Yep, both fish are still alive and apparently doing okay. The female still appeared a little bloated last I saw her, but that may have been the eggs, as it was not nearly as fat as the picture I posted.

Anyway, I'm going to discontinue the Myxazin, and switch to a daily water change schedule to keep the place clean. What do you think?
