i came home from work tonight to find the babies scattered everywhere in the tank dead or almost dead with yellow swollen bellies. only 7 days old and i havent seen them leave the cave until now. i just don't understand there was only cucumber for them to eat. tank parameters are all good.
im shattered
anyone know what happened??? why didn't the dad look after them?
i have tried to save 8 of them (that's all that were found moving) they are in a fry saver but i fear the worst as they look as though they will have the same fate as their siblings...

Sorry to hear of your losses I'm devestated for you.

As all your water parameters are good, and I would not expect yours not to be, I can not understand what has happened. Are the survivors displaying the swollen belly or is it a post death thing.

It could be a viral infection but what and why I could not say.

@ 20 good babies sitting in the breeder net - pushed the net in the tank, done a count a few days later
and zero survivors.

I'm really sorry to hear that. It does happen sometimes and I dont know why. I have lost from time to time an entire spawn for no other reason other than they felt like it. When you have fry you need to daily water changes to make sure the water stays perfect. The thing is that even the slightest bit of ammonia will cause issues.

i would do a 25% change now then 15% every day for the next 3 days. I normally do 10-15% changes daily when i have young fry in a tank. once they are about 2cms long i revert back to doing 25% twice a week.

Sorry to hear mate. Hurts bad when it happens and you don't know why. Same thing happened to me when I lost all my alb lf fry and they were a good 2cm when it happened

Really sorry to hear this. You must be gutted. I hope you get at least a few survivors.
