Just thinking how I'm going to go about this and peoples thoughts. Currently in the 4ft is my pep pair + 2 spare females. Now I want to add another pair (hopefully this wk end) and the problem is my current male at the moment has a bad habit of switching between his caves. There's 3 caves, left side of tank, middle and right side. Normally I'd just put the other pair in and let them figure it out. But this time I'm worried as I think my male pep killed my male albino longfin back when I had them. Only thing I can think if doing is putting in a tank devider but I want all the females to have the run of the whole tank...

you know as wel as i do that peps are agro little fish when they want to be. I would def be worried about adding in another pair to that tank. Maybe try and really stock out the tank with caves and hiding places. Like seriously go mental, fill it up with rocks and logs and caves so that there are heaps of places that the fish can hide if things get a bit too heated.

try it for a few weeks and keep a close eye on them, if its all going smoothly then no worries, if its getting tense then shift one pair out.

What's going to happen if I put another pair in there with the current male on eggs? Hmmm maybe my L397s mite have to put up with the new pair while the current pep male is fanning eggs...

yeah, last thing you want is for the new male to go all nutso and take over the exsisting male's cave and eat the eggs.

And we all know how picky pep males are...opps i sneezed down the other end of the house and ... yep, he booted the eggs

I've got 6 males in a 2 foot (waiting to be sold)
And not once have i had an issue, ok there not breeding so eggs and females aren't an issue but i've never known them be aggressive, could you possibly add more caves?

I had 4 males and 6 females in a 4ft tank and the dominant male attacked a less dominant male and it killed it.

In fact I think you will find the story on here some where, I have housed them in a 80cm tank with success and 4ft but as explained you need a few caves and plants and extra rock for hiding if possible...

Really? i have 6 males, 2 females and 2 caves, some wood and a few plants....they all get on great. Maybe i have the wrong fish :| There all atleast 5inches in size.

Maybe my tank is a one off but i agree with the above...be ready to move them if they just don't get on.
