 | Subject: ancistrus breeding surprise in my show tank... Tue Mar 01, 2011 6:39 pm | |
| well had a big surprise today,
knocked my water change back to once a week in my snail breeding tank, which happens to be my main lounge tank(juwel rekord 80)
any way I took 2 gallons of water out into the bucket and then removed the filter for a rinse in the same water when I saw something small shoot across the bottom of the tank.
After removing the filter and changing the water I checked the caves and to my surprise I found 20-30 wrigglers.
Now I am used to this in my main breeding tanks but not in this tank...lol...
Seems the male and 3 females I had given up hope on a few months back have decided to get LUCKY.... lol....
So now they are safe in the fry saver for now.... total surprise as that tank is over stocked with snails and fish right now... I was doing a water change every two days to keep the water within safe parameters....
kind regards

| Hi LJ, I have had the same surprise - I bought a pair of browns abouyt 2 weeks ago, I thought they were hiding in the cave because of being moved, but today loads of fry appeared! It still never ceases to thrill me! |
