Hi all, i have a pair of common BNs now, i bought a female today but they won't breed for almost another year so i have a lot of time, and i hope to get a 5 or 6 foot tank, this will leave a 125 litre tank for some BNs, what would be a good tankmate for common BNs that i could have and possibly breed? i like longfins and L144, i also love peppermints, but i have heard that they are harder to take care of.

as i am a beginner i think i should i just keep with a trio of common BNs for now, especially given the size of the tank. Is this a better idea?

If the plan is to breed the bristlenose then I always suggest going with bristlenose only. makes everything much easier

and you wont be waiting a year, bristlenose mature at about 9 months

I notice no difference in breeding. All i find is that the males need a break sooner. although, you can get two different types of females and breed some different types

Thanks, when you say two different types of female, do you mean like one common one albino or something?

OK, i'll have a think about that i do love albino's, but if there was two common females and one albino female the common male would be very unlikely to breed witht the albino, unless i just put the 2 common females in another tank, am i correct?

i might be able to buy another 125 litre tank after breeding the common BNs and made some money then i could buy an albino male and female.

But this is only if i get a 5/6 foot tank, i do hope i get one...

nope, the males are not picky. they will take eggs from any female who wants to give his some. honsestly, males are not that picky when it come to reproduction

OK, ill keep an eye out for an albino female :cyclops: , just in case.
