| Hi all, I was doing tank checks and noticed this, This is one of my 2 orange spot BNs, has had normal colouration unitl this point. Size approx 10cm Still eating well, does not appear to be stressed. Tank pH 6.8, GH 5, all other parameters normal (orange spot tank bottom pic) Weekly 25% water changes, HOB filtration Other orange spot looking fine I think it is just a temporary change in base colour, but I want to be sure. Any thoughts? Has anyone seen this sort of dramatic change in colour on an OS before? I will keep an eye on it anyways! :cyclops: |

| That is an amazing transformation, it looks like the colouration is even in the sclera (what we call the white of are eyes). |

| this is interesting! Only the third time i have heard about this and only the first time i have seen the results. I am assuming that nothing has changed in the tank. Fish I would be covering my bases in terms of infections so i would be dosing the tank with some broad scale meds, multicure or something like that just to ensure that it is not illness related. although, the other two times I have heard about this it was in a perfectly healthy fish. OK, so what could it be. Well, there are several explanations that are possible but all are a bit very rare, but this is a rare event so they are possible. Do you know much about the liniage of the fish in question? in terms of inbreeding etc? To be honest i have not followed the other two stories to their conclutions so i dont know if it was tempory but let me do some checking around and I will report back _________________ Doug's Bristlenose eBook - The number one source of Bristlenose information and the most detailed breeding guide avaliable 3rd edition OUT NOW!!! | 6 days later, still eating and acting normal, seems to be returning to a more normal colouration. |

| I have been chatting to anohter breeder who had something similar happen to him once with an albino turning brown. happened about 6 months ago and still alive and happy, brown on top and yellow underneath. he is growing it out to breed to see if it is a genetic thing or envirnomental thing. Yours does seem to be getting darker...keep us posted _________________ Doug's Bristlenose eBook - The number one source of Bristlenose information and the most detailed breeding guide avaliable 3rd edition OUT NOW!!!
