| Hi, Great site. I recently got back into fish keeping after a long absence. I always wanted Bristlenose but it was hard to get them in Ireland when I started fishkeeping in the 90s. Now there seem to plenty about. I have two 2 ft tanks with two bristlenose in each. Two are only just over an inch long- they are in one tank- not sure whether they're male or female yet. The others are a pair and I've had the female longer than the male. They are approx two and a half - three inches long. The tanks are heavily planted and have plenty of wood and hiding places. They share the tanks with some goldfish fry I am over wintering.
Not in any hurry to breed them when I evict the goldfish fry next spring is time enough |

| I know I might not have any choice but I can't see many fry surviving the attentions of the goldfish- they are voracious. What I meant is I won't be conditioning them and as they are unheated tanks at room temp of 21 C they may not be in the mood  |

Well as I mentioned in another post I'm overwintering some goldfish fry in the tank with the ancistrus pair and although the tank is unheated the goldfish seem ravenous all the time so I've probably been over compensating with green veg trying to get some through to the Bristlenose but as you say, she looks healthy enough so I might cut back on the food |

Yeah- plenty of water changes and I have a bigger filter than needed for a two foot tank.
Also I've never kept goldfish indoors before and I hadn't realised how much goldfish and plants don't go together |
