| I'm looking for a quiet air pump having tried the Elite's.... they put me off having an air pump because of how noisey they were, I ended up taking them back the same day! After looking around on the internet for a good few hours, I've got a list of pumps people have mentioned as being 'quiet' Tetratec Tetra whisper Interpet airvolution Rena air The Interpet and Tetratec both have my interest.... but I don't want to be buying one and then have the same problem! I'll be using it to run an air stone in my bristlenose tank. If you have an air pump which is quiet... let me know! Please! I really need a quiet pump! Thanks! |

| Hrmmm, most of them are pretty quiet. I have one of the big piston powered ones for my breeding tanks (setup as an air ring) and a small little one that was making a bit of noise so i used the power cord to tie it up so it hangs in the air and now its quiet. Most airpumps are inhernetly quiet but they vibrate so they hit things and make noise, by hanging it up you loose that vibration.
But after all that the quietest air pumps i have ever seen are airpods. _________________ Doug's Bristlenose eBook - The number one source of Bristlenose information and the most detailed breeding guide avaliable 3rd edition OUT NOW!!! | I have an Aqua A2 'Interpet' it's pretty quite, the unit has soft rubber feet to absorb sounds (Which are virtually none). I have mine sat ontop of the tank lid 'it's that quiet' It's a nice rectangle shape so no worries about it falling over etc. The only noise really (apart from a gentle hum) is the sound of the bubbles breaking the surface of the water and you can hear the jaws of the 'air crocidile's' jaws falling shut.
It's the soft rubber feet that do it I think. |

| Have you seen THE HYDOR ARIO RANGE
It seems to work on the same principle as an internal filter with a venturi option.

It's not a filter, it only has a small piece of foam to stop anything getting into the impeller section. I've not got one but I do like the look of the ones with coloured lights. They also do Spotlights which may be a better buy for me as I already have a venturi on my filters. |
