| Hi everyone. I'm jaz and an unintentional newbie to all things bristlenose. It all started when my sister acquired a Siamese fighting fish, Monty, who she kept in a vase and didn't clean too often. After feeling sorry for him, researching, and finding out that fighters do well in tanks, I upgraded Monty to a proper tank with live plants, some harlequin rasboras as friends, and finally, a common bristlenose named Spike. Although Monty will always be the special child (3yrs old and going strong), Spike has become the favorite. His personality and the way he seems so comfortable gliding through the tank has won us over. Our enthusiasm for Spike led to another bristlenose addition, a common albino called Terrence, who is still a youngun and may be subject to a name change (to Terri) should it prove to be a female. Spike is about 6cm long and Terrence is maybe 2.5cm, however, despite Spike's size, Monty undoubtably rules the tank with his perpetually cranky face This site has been a fantastic source of knowledge, and has increased my affection for the bristlenose even more! Hi everyone!! |
