Distribution:
Chilotilapia euchilus is to be found in a lake wide distribution in Lake Malawi Africa

Habitat:
The Euchilus prefers the intermediate habitat and can usually be located on or around snady areas at depths of generally no more than 8 metres

Diet:
This species has specialised lips for feeding on the bio cover of rocks where they eat mostly small invertebrates.

Breeding behaviour:
In the wild there is not a lot known in regards to the spawning sites however males in full breeding colour can be seen in the rocky sections of the intermediate zone. In captive breeding the male will dig a shallow depression and entice the female to deposit her eggs for fertilization. Follow the spawning the female will seek refuge in the rocks or other suitable hiding spots to avoid further attention from the male.

General Comments:
This Cichlid is is a very slow developer. I have a colony of 1 male and 2 females which I have had for aproximately 3 years and they have only recently had their first spawn. In full colour the male is a spectacular fish with Blues, Reds and Yellow being the main colours.
For their size the Chilotilapia have a good temperament and are suitable for community tanks but should kept in a species tank should you wish to breed them. These fish rate a 4 out of 5 for hardness of keeping and breeding
