| I was reading on another post that Deano was building a fish room. First off...I'm still new at this..so what is a fish room?
I'm thinking it is just what it sounds like. I get a mental picture of it being like the LFS with all the tanks lining the walls and having a central plumbing unit hidden away.
If any of you have one could you please post pics.
Thanks!! |

| Y'know, a fish room oddly enough doesn't appeal to me. I'm more of a 'sit in the bedroom/living room and gawp at them inbetween tv' kind of person! xD |

depends on several things. Some people plumb their fish rooms in so that they can just empty tanks onto the floor and it all flows away, this may be hard on the second floor. But i am guessing your worries go more to weight. Fish tanks are heavy. My 4ft tank (full of water, gravel etc including stand) weighs about 340 kilos. Water is heavy, glass tanks are heavy but nothing that the house can't take if done right. In short, i see no issues with having a fish room upstairs as long as you are clever about it. don't put a 8ft 1000ltr tank on floorboards (that goes for downstairs too). Just make sure that the flooring can take the weight, and if it is wooden, make sure that if any water gets spilt that it doesnt soak into the wood and weaken it._________________ Doug's Bristlenose eBook - The number one source of Bristlenose information and the most detailed breeding guide avaliable 3rd edition OUT NOW!!! I've just had my 20 or so tanks moved from upstairs to down, maily after any visitors kept asking which way do your beams run etc. They frightened the life out of me so now all in one room and it's an awful lot easier too! |
