Anyone had much experience of these? Was thinking about adding one to my planned new tank setup as i've only got a 180l community tank at the moment.

They get pretty big, probably at least 12in and are known to be aggressive towards other plecos, especially as they get bigger. They eat more wood than some of the smaller panaques. Some don't like their almost comical looking body, others like it a lot. I'm kind of on the fence with it. They seem to settle in reasonably well and eat algae based foods readily, or mine has anyway. There are a few different variants as with most plecos. I have a red eye which the L number escapes me for the moment. L191 or 190 from memory. So far I would say they are quite hardy. Probably at least partly due to their size, I'm not aware of anyone in NZ breeding them yet. I have seen a picture of some juveniles in a tank which were apparently bred in the tank but can't verify that report.
