| ok guys started the new background. if you want make one of these this is what you will need. celtec board sharp knife i use the extendable stanley knife hacksaw blade straight edge silicone sealer aquarium freindly i use bondit ha6 heat gun / gas burner sand paper paint brushes cheap ones will do as their no good after tile cement you can get this in loads of coloures from b&q g4 pond sealer or apoxy resin hoover for the mess lol pic ov the stuff you will need [img] [/img] cut the celtec board to size.make sure this is ten mill shorter all the way round. you do this as when you cut the background into peices then you add the 4 coats of tile cement and the g4 this will make it a tighter fitting. pic of back peice cut to size [img] [/img] then start to cut some more board to make your tree or rocks make sure you make these peices bigger than what you want to make as when you start cutting away at it. it soon becomes alot smaller getting the desired effect. two peices stuck together before carving. [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] after carving more to come as it makes progress

| ok the next step a pic after roughly carving out [img] [/img] and one after sanding it down to get a smooter shape [img] [/img] now this bit is a must go over the peices you have carved out with the heat gun / blowtorch but dont get too close or you will melt it. this gets rid ofv any lose bits and makes the peice hard. when you have done this you might need to remove any silicone that is showing just trim with stanly blade. if you dont do this when you apply the tile cement it doesnt cover so is a must. pic after burning it now looks rough but is hard and the tile cemant sticks better. [img] [/img] when you have made all your peices and your happy with it time to add them to the back peice. put them into place and then draw around them. then remove them and any spaces need to be roughed up or carved to look like rocks or what ever you want. like this .[img] [/img] when you have done this. its out with the heat gun again. then you can stick them into place. you should then have something like this. this as taken four hours to do so not so bad. [img] [/img] [img] [/img] more to come later |
